Change is all around us. Yeah, I know that’s no revelation but I wanted to start there because I want to talk about one way you can help navigate and manage that change.

And, I need you to stay with me because I’m going to dive into something that a year or so ago I would have said was woowoo and perhaps even voodoo. Up until then, the only two things I thought were in these categories were the Ouija board and Calculus. Oh, and maybe some of the Stephen King movies like It and Christine. No, maybe they were more like nightmares. Now that I think about it again, Calculus was voodoo and a nightmare all rolled into one. Just sayin’.

But, as New York Times reporter Julia Moskin once said, “One man’s woo-woo, of course, is another’s deeply held belief system.”

So, what I want to talk about are the universal laws that create balance and harmony in nature. While I know about Isaac Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation (as I’m sure you do too), I was not aware of other universal laws that influence our everyday lives until just recently when I dove deep into personal development and understanding the power of the mind.

Now I understand that it’s human nature to believe mostly in the things we can see, feel, taste, hear or touch and to doubt everything else. But, we also have a nonphysical being, our inner self or mind. We cannot see it, therefore it defies logic. But it is very real. It’s the same with the universal laws. We cannot see, feel, taste, hear or touch them so they also defy logic. But, they’re also very real.

Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t real. At least in my world. So, I’ll give you a brief description and you can make up your own mind. If you’re still firmly on the side of the fence that believes these universal laws are definitely at the top of the woowoo list, that’s perfectly okay. If you’re willing to lean in, you might just find yourself navigating all this change in a more positive way.

So, most sources agree there are 12 universal laws or principles that govern the universe and allow it to exist in perfect harmony. I happen to believe that God created this universe, but these universal laws work for everyone, regardless of religious beliefs. While all are important, I wanted to focus on the Law of Vibration for purposes of this blog and then perhaps tackle some others in the future. You game?

I wanted to start with the Law of Vibration because it serves as the foundation for the other two I mention in my book. The Law of Vibration refers to energy and states that anything that exists in our universe, whether seen or unseen, consists of pure energy or light which moves and vibrates at some speed — all the time.

Wait a minute; that’s definitely not woowoo. I learned this in some of my classes, including Chemistry. For those of you who braved the world of Physics, you undoubtedly learned that energy is the capacity for doing work. Energy can be neither created nor destroyed but only changed from one form to another.

Author Esther Hicks contends that these vibrations and ultimately who we are, are simply extensions of Source energy which vibrates at a high frequency and flows through everything. So, if we’re simply extensions of Source energy, we somehow must attract that energy, right? Yep, we do in our thoughts.

You see, everything starts with a thought. That thought creates a belief and that belief has emotion or feelings attached. Our thoughts are attracting energetic vibrations. You get to choose whether you attract positive, high frequency energy or negative, low frequency energy. If you’re stuck in a place you don’t want to be and it’s really negative, you might want to check in with your thoughts. If you’re thinking doom and gloom all day long, you’re operating at a low vibrational frequency and you’re just attracting more doom and gloom.

No one wants that.

Turn it around. Since Source energy vibrates at a higher, positive frequency, think positive thoughts so you can attract more of that positive energy into your life. Turn off the television and scroll past the negative posts on social media. Look for and be grateful for the positive things that have happened during these uncertain times. Put your positive energy to work in helping you figure out what you might want to do in the new normal that will emerge. Help someone in need. Smile.

Raise your vibrational frequency. Your mental, physical and emotional health and your general outlook on life will improve. What do you have to lose?
