Like Christine, I had the opportunity to do a work study program in high school.  She was my mentor for that program. I always felt like a peer with her, instead of the shy little girl from a poor background that I believed others saw. She challenged me to meet stretch goals. She validated my choices and recognized my accomplishments. I’ve carried that experience through life and strive to emulate the support I received.  First, I aspire to model the behavior I want from others, then encourage their attempts to progress, and grant them grace along the way. Reading her book is helping me write the next chapter of my life. I can trust it is going to be amazing.
